What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation or derma pigmentation, involves the implantation of high-grade pigment into the skin's dermal layer. It is a safe cosmetic application aimed at enhancing natural features rather than changing one's appearance. This fast and effective procedure has gained significant interest from both women and men due to its numerous benefits. Permanent cosmetics not only save time but also offer the convenience of waking up every morning with perfect makeup that won't smudge or run off, even during activities like swimming, exercising, or showering.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Permanent makeup, as the name suggests, is intended to be long-lasting. However, the duration can vary depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors. It is generally recommended to have a color boost every 12-18 months to maintain the freshness and application of the makeup.

Does getting permanent makeup hurt?

The level of discomfort experienced during the procedure can vary from person to person. While some may describe it as slightly uncomfortable, others may find it pain-free. Numbing solutions are often used to minimize any discomfort, and some clients have even reported falling asleep during the process.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure typically takes around 2 hours. This includes the time for drawing on the initial eyebrows or lips, ensuring both the client and I are happy with the shape and style before starting the procedure.

Will my eyebrows be really dark?

Immediately after the procedure, your eyebrows will appear 50-70% darker and 25% thicker. However, this is perfectly natural, and they will fade and shrink during the first week of the healing process. I always start with a lighter color during the first appointment, as it's easier to add a darker color in the second treatment than to remove it. Once healed, your makeup will look perfectly natural.

How long will it take to heal?

Healing time can vary for each individual. Generally, it takes around a week for the brows and lips to scab and shed, while eyeliner takes about 5 days. After this, the pigment will work with the pigment in your own skin to give the true color.

How many treatments will I need?

Eyebrow micropigmentation procedures, as well as lip and eyeliner procedures, are typically done in two treatments that are spaced 4-8 weeks apart. In some rare cases, individuals may require three treatments due to variations in the healing process.

Can I have eyeliner, lips, and eyebrows micropigmentation all done at once?

Yes, you can opt for a full-face procedure that will take approximately 4-5 hours. Alternatively, some individuals choose to have the procedures done as separate appointments, such as brows and eyeliner first, and then returning for lips at a later time.

Do I need a consultation for permanent makeup?

Our consultation is included in the full session appointment. During the full session, we will consider various factors such as skin tone and type to recommend the most suitable technique. We will also map your face to create the perfect brow shape, select a pigment color that matches your natural undertones and hair color, and provide a detailed explanation of the entire process. Our goal is to achieve the most natural and healthy results possible. If you have any questions about permanent makeup, feel free to text us!

If you have existing permanent makeup, please inform us and send a photo before scheduling an appointment.

Is there anyone who can't have a permanent makeup treatment?

Pregnant women and those breastfeeding are advised to avoid permanent makeup treatments due to hormonal changes in the body. Additionally, individuals with serious medical conditions should consult their doctor before scheduling a permanent makeup appointment.

What if I no longer have any eyebrow hair or very little?

This treatment is perfect for you! It's a common choice for ladies who want to achieve permanent makeup.

Should I bring anything with me to the treatment?

If you have a favorite color lipstick or eyebrow pencil that you want us to match, it would be helpful if you could bring it, but it's not essential.

Should I wax or pluck my eyebrows prior to treatment?

It's not necessary. Your eyebrows will be shaped during the treatment.

Will you shave off all my eyebrows?

No, the procedure is used to enhance your natural shape and style.

Is permanent makeup a safe procedure?

Yes, at Madeira Beauty, the procedures are performed under sterile conditions using disposable needle cartridges and a digitally controlled implantation device. There are no long-term side effects, and any short-term effects like redness, swelling, or tenderness usually subside within 15-30 minutes after treatment. There are no known allergic reactions to pigments.
